BIOLOGIC ETHOS, 2023
Direct digital print on glass
Biologic Ethos is a series of three floral motifs depicting multiple life stages of indigenous plant species through compositions that carry forward Interior Plateau bead working traditions. Each motif represents a single plant species shown in various seasons. The plants are known by many names, but colloquially, they may be called Prickly Currant, Black Twinberry, and Ghost Berry. Each plant has many diverse medicinal uses; some have edible components, and some are toxic to humans. Like all living things, they carry power. Whether the consequences of this power benefit or harm, is determined by both intent and knowledge.
