Squeeze, 2018
Acrylic, vinyl, steel cord, and aluminum.
SQUEEZE illustrates the rapidly rising cost of living in our region through a site-specific performance and series of temporary artworks. It began with 18 sculptural price tags of varying oversized scales installed by a two-person crew throughout Downtown Bellevue the Bellevue Art Museum, Compass Plaza, Downtown Park, and City Hall. Each price tag was mounted via a steel cable by the artist /worker, directed by a busy man in a nice suit. They “acquired” a variety of public services and amenities and quickly began escalating the prices, doubling each time until selling off the asset.
Commissioned by the City of Bellevue in conjunction with the Bellevue Art Museum for 2018 Bellwether Art + Experience, Bellevue, WA.
